RAPTORS in The Community

Traverse City Central High School FIRST Robotics Team 1711, the RAPTORS aim to spread the message of FIRST Robotics and the principles behind STEAM education throughout the Grand Traverse area and Northwest Michigan. To accomplish this, the RAPTORS:

  • Inspire an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) in our area’s youth

    • We promote VEX teams within the school, and do visits in elementary schools.

  • Promote and stimulate diversity in the STEAM fields

  • Involve our organization with our community through sponsorship and volunteerism

  • Develop and support other FIRST teams (Jr. FLL, FLL, FTC, & FRC) in our region

  • Adhere to the FIRST core values, including Respect, Gracious Professionalism, and Cooperation, in all things we do

  • Host Super Science Saturday every year, a fun one-day event where parents can come with their kids to instill within them a love for science

To give back to our wonderful community, the RAPTORS make it a goal of ours to do as much volunteering as possible. From collecting water for the Flint water crisis to helping out at the Iceman bike races, these activities spread community awareness of FIRST robotics, give back to our beautiful home, and instill in our members the virtues of selflessness, respect, and countless other wonderful byproducts of volunteering.
